TEC-516 Instructional Theories and Models in Technology Education

Theories and models ground teaching practice in empirical research and tested experiences. As a technology coach and classroom teacher, you can use theory to apply technology purposefully to meet instructional challenges.

Read “Theories, Models, Frameworks, and Strategies.” Imagine you have been asked to conduct a professional development session about design theories and models that can be applied to instructional technology and promote learning in the digital environment. Create an 8-10 slide digital presentation for a staff development session for teachers who represent the grade level where you are most interested in working.

Select two learning theories and two instructional design models that will be the basis of your research and presentation.

The presentation should address the following:

Explain each theory and model and how it relates to instructional practice when using technology. Include specific, real-world examples to illustrate your ideas.
Provide 2-3 examples of specific frameworks or instructional strategies that are relevant to each model and include a rationale why each supports learning in the digital environment.
Title slide, reference slide, and speaker notes.
Support your presentation with a minimum of three scholarly resources.

The digital presentation should include graphics that are relevant to the content, visually appealing, and use space appropriately.

Refer to the resource, “Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations,” located in the Student Success Center, for additional guidance on completing this assignment in the appropriate style.
