Please detail how the prison environment might be conducive to acute psychotic episodes and the onset of psychological disorders.
· Regarding the issues related to treatment, should it be mandated for those incarcerated, considering incarceration itself is compulsory? What about those formerly incarcerated and those who have not come in contact with the justice system?
· With an ever-rising population with mental health disorders, the availability of mental health services is limited, and the barriers are many; what recommendations would you suggest related to treatment for and responses to those who are incarcerated or have been involved in the criminal justice system with a mental disorder and those who are at risk for involvement to prevent recidivism (reincarceration) or initial incarceration (respectively).
