Topic Choice Instructions

  • Review the 6 TED Talks below.
  • Choose your top 3 favorites. Choose topics that interest you.
  • Put them in order. For example, if you are most interested in the TED Talk about food, list that as your number 1 choice. If the TED Talk about immigration is your second favorite, put that as number 2, etc. Your answer for this assignment will look like this:
  • EXAMPLE:
    1. Food
    2. Immigration
    3. Education
  • I will look at your choices and assign everyone ONE TED Talk to analyze. (No more than 4 students may analyze the same TED Talk. If more than 4 students want to analyze the same TED talk, I will give some students their second or third choice.)

Note: You may choose your own TED Talk if you wish. However, if you choose a TED talk not on the list below, it must utilize all three persuasive appeals – ethos, pathos, and logos – to persuade the audience to do something. If you wish to choose your own TED Talk, please include the link in your answer to this assignment. I will let you know if your choice is approved before you begin Writing Task 2.
