From your course textbook Creating Effective Groups, complete the inventory titled “Discovering Yourself.” Next, complete the following:
Briefly explain the inventory to someone who knows you well, such as a family member, a coworker, or a friend. Ask him or her to review your responses to “Discovering Yourself.”
Ask this person to comment on your answers to each statement. Try not to judge or feel offended by the person’s comments.
Ask the person for honest feedback on the basis of his or her perception about you and your communication behavior.
Ask for his or her suggestions on ways you may improve how you communicate.
In 100–300 words, post to the Discussion Area your response to one of the following:
Reflect upon what you learned and share a new insight that you have gained from the inventories. How does this new insight change your perspective on your communication?
Reflect upon the answers you received from your conversation with the family member, coworker, or friend. What are some positive communication traits or impressions that you received in this conversation? What are some communication behaviors that you would like to improve?
What are the positive suggestions that have helped you in a specific communication area? These could be advice, personal experience, and/or a principle that improved your communication.
